HIS Annual Conference 2026 #HISCON recap
The HIS Annual Conference 2026 was held on 23-24 June 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians in London.
As the UK’s leading event dedicated to the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs), the conference welcomed IPC specialists, clinicians, researchers and industry representatives to explore the latest challenges and advancements in the field.

The Healthcare Infection Society’s Annual Conference (HISCON26), held on 23–24 June 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians in London, brought together professionals from across the infection prevention and control (IPC) community for two days of expert discussion, research sharing and collaboration.

The programme featured a diverse range of oral presentations from invited experts and submitted abstracts, covering key topics such as surveillance of HCAIs, clinical trials in IPC, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), sustainability, and national and regional perspectives from across the UK and Ireland.  These sessions offered delegates valuable insight into emerging evidence, developments in surveillance and practical approaches to improving clinical sustainability.

Alongside the scientific programme, an expanded exhibition showcased the latest innovations and products designed to support IPC practice. This year’s conference also demonstrated growing engagement from the research community. Abstract submissions increased significantly compared to previous years, resulting in a larger poster exhibition providing a platform for both early career professionals and experienced researchers to present findings, share pilot studies and highlight novel interventions in IPC.

Overall, HISCON26 underscored the continued momentum in infection prevention research and practice, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based approaches and cross-sector collaboration in addressing the ongoing challenge of healthcare-associated infections.
