Mark has worked in the field of Infection Control for over 9 years. Mark is a Consultant Clinical Scientist in Microbiology and is currently the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control for the Infection Prevention and Control Service at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).
Alyson is an infection prevention and control specialist who holds key experience in developing and shaping the Built Environment. She is an experienced IPCN with capability to support both the technical aspects of building services compliance and projects from an infection control perspective. Alyson is collaborating and shaping national policy development, working currently on refreshing the Infection prevention and control aspects of Health and Social Care Act (2015) with the Department of Health and Social care alongside leading IPC specialists nationally.
Karren is a Subject Matter Expert: IPC, Healthcare Ventilation, Decontamination and Water Safety. She joined UKHSA as an Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Advisor, in 2021. Karren initially trained in Diagnostic Microbiology but in 2006 she transferred to the IPC Team serving a large NHS teaching hospital.
Peter Hoffman is a retired Consultant Clinical Scientist for UKHSA with particular interests in specialist ventilation and decontamination. Peter worked with a variety of governmental and professional bodies to formulate guidelines and standards. He also investigated incidents & outbreaks and uses the knowledge gained to educate others on these matters.
Dr Michael Weinbren is a consultant medical microbiologist and infection control practitioner and a specialist Advisor Microbiology to New Hospital Programme. He is chair of the Healthcare Infection Society working party on water. He has an interest in water and wastewater systems.
