Mark is a Consultant Clinical Scientist in Microbiology and is currently the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control for the Infection Prevention and Control Service at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).

She is an experienced IPCN with capability to support both the technical aspects of building services compliance and projects from an infection control perspective. Alyson is collaborating and shaping national policy development, working currently on refreshing the Infection prevention and control aspects of Health and Social Care Act (2015) with the Department of Health and Social care alongside leading IPC specialists nationally.
Karren is a Subject Matter Expert: IPC, Healthcare Ventilation, Decontamination and Water Safety. She joined UKHSA as an Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Advisor, in 2021. Karren initially trained in Diagnostic Microbiology but in 2006 she transferred to the IPC Team serving a large NHS teaching hospital.

His expertise made him a sought-after voice among governmental and professional bodies, and he played a key role in formulating many of the guidelines and standards that continue to shape safe practice in these areas today.
Throughout his career, Peter was regularly called upon to investigate incidents and outbreaks, and he was passionate about using the knowledge gained from this work to educate and inform others in the field. His commitment to sharing expertise also saw him serve as a specialist editor for the Journal of Hospital Infection, where his insight helped guide published research for the benefit of the wider community.
Peter made an outstanding contribution to the field of infection prevention and control, and his expertise and commitment were held in the highest regard by colleagues and peers. In recognition of his exceptional contribution to the field he was awarded the Gary French Lecture Award, an honour he was deeply humbled to receive.
