Professor Malcolm Richardson

Malcolm Richardson is the Director of the UK National Health Service Mycology Reference Centre, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, UK and an honorary Professor of Medical Mycology at the University of Manchester. In 2017, the Mycology Reference Centre became the first European Confederation of Medical Mycology Centre of Excellence (Diamond Status).Professor Richardson has published over 400 original articles, book chapters and reviews, with an H-index of 61, over 15,000 citations, and has authored, co-authored or edited a number of mycological textbooks and handbooks, many of which have been translated into other languages.Professor Richardson was President of the International Society of Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM) between 2015 and 2018. Professor Richardson is also a Senior Advisor for the Global Action Fund for Fungal Infections (GAFFI), whose vision is to reduce illness and deaths associated with fungal disease worldwide.
