Katie Hopkins, Ph.D. is the Lead Clinical Scientist for UKHSA’s Antimicrobial Resistance & Mechanisms Service (ARMS) and is based in Colindale, London UK. ARMS provides phenotypic- and molecular-based reference microbiology services for surveillance and investigation of antibiotic resistance in healthcare-associated pathogens including investigation of resistance to key antimicrobials and detection of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms of public health importance. Katie completed her doctoral studies in molecular microbiology at The University of Birmingham, UK. Since joining the Public Health Laboratory Service (now UKHSA) in 2000 she has developed research interests in the antibiotic resistance and molecular epidemiology of Gram-negatives (particularly enteric and healthcare-associated pathogens) and in application of novel geno- and phenotypic methods for the rapid detection of antimicrobial resistance and for epidemiological investigations. |
