Trainee Committee Roles

Are you passionate about infection prevention and control? Do you want to shape the future of healthcare infection training and represent the voice of trainees within a leading professional society?

We are inviting applications for the role of Regional Representatives on the HIS Trainee Committee.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of education and professional support for trainees in infection-related specialties. The committee works closely with the HIS Council and other HIS committees to ensure the perspectives of trainees are represented in society activities.

We currently have vacancies for Regional Representatives across the UK and Ireland but we are particularly keen to receive applications from Trainee members based in Scotland, Ireland,  North of England, and the Midlands.  We are also keen to recruit an HSST representative.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be current Trainee members of HIS

What you’ll gain:

  • Leadership experience in a national organisation
  • Opportunities to network with senior professionals and fellow trainees
  • Opportunities to chair training days and get involved in sessions at FIS conference
  • A platform to make meaningful changes for current and future trainees

Term

Individual members will be recommended to Council by the Chair of the Committee for an agreed time period of up to three years (or upon reaching CCT, whichever is earlier), which can be extended by a further term of two years and as such, should have at least 1-2 years before their CCT date when nominated. The current members of the committee can be viewed here and the terms of reference for the committee can be viewed here

Time

Time commitment for the Trainee committee involves just three 1 - 1½ hour long meetings a year and one shorter meeting.  There is also an expectation that members of the Trainee Committee will support the chairing of the IPC Training days.

Application Deadline: Monday 3 August 2026

  • A short statement (max 300 words) outlining your motivation, any relevant experience and any conflicts of interest (details of any positions you hold within another Society or Royal College).
