Meet the Speakers

Lindsay Keeley RN, BSc (Hons) is the Clinical Patient Safety and Quality Lead for the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP), where she plays a strategic role in advancing perioperative safety, quality, and professional standards across the UK. She supports perioperative practitioners through AfPP’s Professional Advice Service, providing expert, evidence‑informed guidance on complex clinical and professional issues.

A Registered Nurse with extensive experience across NHS and Independent surgical settings, Lindsay is widely recognised for her expertise in infection prevention, surgical fire safety, surgical plume, and system‑based approaches to reducing harm. She works nationally with NHS England and partners to co‑produce patient safety tools, including the HSJ Bronze award‑winning Skin Preparation Decision Tool. A published author and experienced keynote speaker, Lindsay is passionate about unlocking the potential of the perioperative workforce.

Neil Powers

Neil is a Consultant Antimicrobial Pharmacist and Associate Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. Neil has recently successfully completed a NIHR/HEE Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship looking at how to implement penicillin allergy de-labelling as part of an antimicrobial stewardship programme in secondary care. Outside of this fellowship he has successfully set up a pharmacist-led, nurse delivered outpatient penicillin allergy de-labelling clinic and led a prescribing incentive scheme in primary care to remove low risk penA records. He is a co-applicant of the NIHR funded OPAL study, a RCT which aims to investigate the long-term outcomes of a direct oral penicillin challenge in secondary care outpatient clinics delivered by clinical pharmacists. Neil sits on the iNAAN steering committee and is the UK lead investigator for iNAAN. Neil was a member of the recently published European Society Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases penicillin allergy de-labelling guidelines committee.
